The International Alliance for Responsible Drinking (IARD) is delighted to announce the appointment of new CEO Julian Braithwaite, who takes up his position this week.
IARD’s members are the world’s leading beer, wine, and spirits producers, who have come together in their shared mission to help reduce harmful drinking in all its forms, and to promote moderate and responsible drinking among those who choose to consume alcohol.
Julian has spent more than 30 years in the UK Government diplomatic service; during this time, he was involved in fostering collaborations across governments, the private sector, international organisations, and the wider community to promote positive outcomes for society as a whole.
Commenting on his appointment, Julian said:
“I am excited to be starting as the CEO of IARD and building upon the impressive achievements of the world’s leading beer, wine, and spirits producers in coming together to promote responsible consumption and to tackle the harmful use of alcohol within the frameworks set by the WHO and the United Nations. The sector has an indispensable role to play and I look forward to supporting them.”
Alexandre Ricard, CEO of Pernod Ricard and CEO Chair of IARD commented:
“I am delighted to welcome Julian Braithwaite as the new CEO and President of IARD. Julian has extensive experience of building relationships across sectors and delivering impact, through his work in the diplomatic service. I look forward to working alongside him to promote a culture of moderation and responsibility and demonstrating the transformative power of a whole-of-society approach to reduce harmful drinking.”
